I have several steps in my skincare routine, when should I apply the fixx?

the fixx should be applied as the first product after cleansing and toning unless you have a medically prescribed skin treatment, then that should go on first.  the fixx serum will absorb rapidly and you want the ingredients to enter the skin first before applying any other product.  After the fixx is applied, you can layer your products in any order because the fixx plays well with other skincare products and will not cause pilling.

What makes the fixx complete serum special?

Good question.  the fixx complete serum was formulated as a system whereby each ingredient, carriers, emulsifiers, humectants, emollients, and actives work together to address many of the issues that affect the skin as it matures.  These are: fine lines and wrinkles, dull skin, uneven skin tone, loose or droopy skin, and discoloration. As a cosmetic product, the fixx compete serum is very effective and contains several high performance ingredients at or above the recommended use level to ensure efficacy.  This product is an incredible value compared to other very high- priced products.  We have done our best to give you the performance and feel that you expect from a professional product.

What is a serum?

Another good question. If you ask five people, you will get different several different answers.  Here is our definition.

A serum is a type of liquid solution or formulation that is typically used in skincare, medicine, or scientific research. It is composed of various active ingredients, such as vitamins, minerals, peptides, enzymes, or botanical extracts, which are designed to target specific concerns or provide specific benefits.

In the context of skincare, serums are lightweight and highly concentrated formulations that are applied topically to the skin. They are usually formulated to penetrate deeper layers of the skin compared to other skincare products like moisturizers or cleansers. Serums are often used to address specific skin issues such as aging signs, hyperpigmentation, acne, dryness, or dullness.

The composition of a serum can vary depending on its intended purpose, but it typically contains a high concentration of active ingredients. These active ingredients can have various effects on the skin, such as promoting collagen production, brightening the complexion, reducing inflammation, or providing hydration. Some commonly used active ingredients in serums include hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, retinol, niacinamide, peptides, and antioxidants.

Serums are usually applied after cleansing and toning the skin and before applying a moisturizer. Due to their high concentration of active ingredients, serums are often used sparingly, with just a few drops being sufficient to cover the entire face. They are typically applied using gentle patting or pressing motions to ensure even distribution and absorption into the skin.

It’s important to note that serums are not a one-size-fits-all solution, and different serums may be more suitable for different skin types or concerns. It’s always recommended to read the product instructions and consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional to determine the most appropriate serum for your specific needs.

What is an active ingredient?

A cosmetic active ingredient refers to a substance or compound that is included in a cosmetic product formulation and provides a specific functional or biological effect on the skin, hair, or nails. These ingredients are carefully selected for their desired properties and can have various effects, such as moisturizing, anti-aging, brightening, soothing, or exfoliating.

Cosmetic active ingredients are often added to enhance the performance or efficacy of a cosmetic product and provide specific benefits beyond basic cleaning or beautifying functions. They are typically present in relatively small concentrations compared to the overall formulation but play a crucial role in achieving the desired cosmetic effects.

Examples of cosmetic active ingredients include:

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Known for its moisturizing properties, it helps retain water in the skin, promoting hydration and plumpness.
  • Retinol: A derivative of vitamin A, it has anti-aging effects and can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
  • Peptides: These small proteins can stimulate collagen production, improving skin elasticity and reducing the signs of aging.
  • Salicylic Acid: Often used in acne treatments, it exfoliates the skin, unclogs pores, and helps reduce blemishes and breakouts.
  • Niacinamide: Also known as vitamin B3, it has multiple benefits, including reducing redness, controlling oil production, and improving the overall texture of the skin.
  • Aloe Vera Extract: Known for its soothing and hydrating properties, it can calm irritated skin and provide a cooling effect.
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs): These exfoliating agents, such as glycolic acid or lactic acid, help remove dead skin cells, promoting a smoother and brighter complexion.

It’s important to note that cosmetic active ingredients should be used according to the instructions and guidelines provided by the manufacturer. Additionally, it’s recommended to perform a patch test before applying any new cosmetic product to ensure compatibility with your skin type and to check for any potential allergies or adverse reactions.

What is a delivery system?

In the context of skincare, a delivery system refers to the method or technology used to deliver active ingredients or beneficial compounds into the skin. The primary purpose of a delivery system is to enhance the absorption, stability, and effectiveness of these ingredients.

Skin has a natural barrier called the stratum corneum, which can limit the penetration of skincare products. Delivery systems aim to overcome this barrier by optimizing the formulation and structure of skincare products to ensure the active ingredients reach their intended target within the skin.

Various delivery systems can be employed, depending on the specific needs of the active ingredients and the desired effect. Here are a few examples:

  • Liposomes: Liposomes are microscopic vesicles composed of lipid bilayers. They can encapsulate active ingredients and transport them to the deeper layers of the skin. Liposomes are effective in improving ingredient stability and facilitating controlled release.
  • Nanotechnology: Nanoparticles, such as nanosomes or nanocapsules, are used to encapsulate active ingredients. Their small size allows them to penetrate the skin more easily. Nanotechnology-based delivery systems can enhance ingredient stability and provide controlled release.
  • Micelles: Micelles are tiny spherical structures formed by surfactant molecules in a solution. They can solubilize hydrophobic (oil-soluble) ingredients and improve their absorption into the skin.
  • Emulsions: Emulsions are mixtures of oil and water that can carry active ingredients. They can enhance ingredient penetration and provide a moisturizing effect. Examples include creams, lotions, and serums.
  • Transdermal patches: These are adhesive patches that contain active ingredients and are applied directly to the skin. The ingredients are slowly released and penetrate through the skin over time, providing a continuous effect.

These are just a few examples of delivery systems used in skincare. The choice of delivery system depends on factors such as the specific active ingredients, their properties, the desired skin target, and the desired release profile. The goal is to optimize the delivery of active ingredients to maximize their effectiveness in improving the health and appearance of the skin.
